The Retire to Abundance Newsletter

Boredom Seekers:

If you know me at all, you know my life is anything but boring. Between running a business, coaching, and chasing six kids and all of their activities, there isn’t much free time left. But there is one area of my life I’m perfectly happy to keep boring: my finances.

Recently, I’ve seen an uptick in people asking about new and exciting strategies or investments, and I’ve been more than happy to steer them the other direction. I'm proud of our boring ways. Spend less than you make. Save consistently. Invest intelligently. Stick with the plan. It isn’t sexy, but boring has a pretty darn good track record of building wealth.

Walks every morning, goes to the gym a few times a week, gets rid of junk food, watches what he eats. But sticks with it.

Not sure about you but my money's on the second guy. Because boring works! In physical health and in financial health.

Different seasons bring different responsibilities in the Meyer household. Right now, Liz is busy coaching volleyball for our local school, which means I’ve taken on a lot more of the dinner duties lately.

Cooking isn’t exactly my favorite thing in the world, but I don’t hate it either. And it has been a good reminder of just how much Liz usually has on her plate...literally and figuratively. 😄

August The Retire to Abundance Newsletter Intentionally Intentional: The article and my blog this month may seem a little at odds, but I think they really come back to the same thing: be intentional. There’s nothing wrong with being busy in retirement, and there’s nothing wrong with slowing down. The key is that you’re choosing it. We spend a lot of time planning how much money we can spend in retirement. I think we should spend just as much time planning how we want to spend our time. Your...

July The Retire to Abundance Newsletter What are you really saving for? July truly is one of my favorite months. The pace of life slows down just enough that we can step away from the office, escape the everyday routine, and spend meaningful time together as a family. Every year, those trips leave me feeling refreshed, grateful, and emotionally full in a way that's hard to replicate any other time of year. As I was reflecting on that this year, I realized it's exactly what I hope good...
